Protected by a 1 mile breakwater into the ocean, the beach is reef free, fine sand bottomed and shallow even 400m away from shore. 2m waves are uneven and usually break low and fast to the north. During September through November, gusts increase to 20 mph creating 2-4m uneven waves which can chew windsurfing and kiteboarding gear equal. Board skills required to survive this season. Amazing riding with 2-3m long porpoises. No riders have still out skilled the constant tide that drives to the breakwater, so staying away from it is a safer wiser option. Surfing is possible near the breakwater from November through February, but please do observe the locals before entering the water to avoid smacking your skull on 15 ton sharp boulders. Several vehicle entrances are available except even when sand is dry and loose. Shaded palm tree canopies are available for 5 USD and plenty of restaurants to manger. Fair winds all year long make us kiters to own big kites even when kiting on 12mph but low pressure weather. 15m kites are a must if you're committed to kitting 8 months a year. 10m high aspect kites are necessary 2 months per year preferably high aspect versions to absorb gusts with ease. Located in the Gulf of Mexico, it has SE sideonshore 8-16 mph winds from April to September during its summer. Constant north winds vary from 13-35 mph. Water temperature is cold but bearable during spring, and warmer during autumn. Still a wetsuit is recommended during windy season. December through March will demand wetsuit on all riders, either shorty or full suit personal preferences. Water: Shallow, Flat, Chop, Smallwave. Features: Rescue, Shower, Toilet, Food, Parking. Rider ability: Intermediate, Expert.
