Chop inside the reef. Reef out about 600-800m. Fairly choppy, not too smooth. Water is very aqua blue. Could get out onto reef break opposite the ruins with the right conditions and surf waves with 5-6 feet waves out on the reef. In most places the reef is too shallow. The beach is one of the most beautiful of the Riviera Maya, nice and soft, white sand. Narrow beach with trees and fence close by. No rocks, shells, few peoples, no grass, no concrete, many different entry and exit points. Never too busy only during Semana Santa and Christmas. Best wind in February and March. The wind mostly comes from North, East and South. The average wind speed in winter (November to April) is 17-25 knots and in the summer from 10-16 knots. The worst time is August to December. Perfect for downwind trips to Boca Paila until Punta Allen, with N, NE, E, and SE winds. And incredible ride in front of the Tulum Maya Ruins with E or SE. Water 26°C, air 25-30°C. In winter we use a short or long wetsuit, 1.5 or 3mm in colder northerlies. Water: Chop, Smallwave, Mediumwave. Features: Rooms, Camping, School, Shop, Repair, Rental, Rescue, Shower, Toilet, Food, Parking. Rider ability: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert.
