Muddy, brackish, brown water, sandy bottom. Water can have 3-5 foot swells in bay area 60-70 yards from beach in strong westerly winds, but generally flat to choppy. Launch area is shallow for about 10-15 feet. Vermillion Bay area with plenty of water but few obstacles, once away from beach area. Be aware of the current in shark bayou area. Man made beach in State Park. Beach launch with lgrassy/sandy area for rigging. Best winds in this area are from cold fronts in the fall thru spring time. Best wind conditions any direction with some West. Summer winds are generally light (5-10mph) with an occasionally thermal or tropical weather system. Be aware of sudden wind changes. May thru September, warm water and warm/hot air temps. October thru November and March thru April water temps are cooler and a shorty can be used, average air temp about 75°F. December thru February coldest months with air temps average 65°F and water temps around 60°F, a long wetsuit recommended. That being said this is South Louisiana & as for weather it's a crap shoot at best. Be prepared for colder waters is best bet. Water: Flat, Chop, Smallwave. Features: Rooms, Shower, Toilet, Parking.
