The south winds kick up and chop a bit, but the water is shallow for a long way out so the waves stay pretty low. You can walk out a good 800 feet from shore and then scoot upwind quick and into the lake. Twenty feet of sand and rocks. Then trees. Rig on the sand and walk away from shore to launch. The road is just behind the beach, and drops off into swaps on the opposite side. Best to stay way out, especially on onshore days, which tend to give the best riding. The best wind is generally a south wind, making it onshore but very safe if you are smart. Average wind on windy days is 12-18 mph. General summer temperatures for Minnesota. Windy days are usually 70-90°F. The season is good from late April to May with a wetsuit through September to early October, depending on the year. The water gets pretty warm pretty fast. Water is usually warm by the end of May. Water: Shallow, Chop. Features: Toilet, Food, Parking. Rider ability: Intermediate, Expert.
