Shallow and flat water protected by North Padre Island. At low tide it gets pretty shallow. The channel is deep, but do not kite here, only use it for going out or coming in. The bottom is muddy, and can have sharp shells. Grassy beach. No sand. Look out for wooden stakes and the power cable. Winds are very consistent. Two principal wind patterns dominate the Texas Coastal Zone: frequent, strong southeasterly winds (essentially at any time of the year but most pronounced in the spring through mid-summer) and north, northeasterly winds associated with cold fronts from October through March. July through October has a bit less wind but is still good. Year round riding with wetsuit needed only in 3 months during winter. Water: Shallow, Flat. Features: School, Parking. Rider ability: Intermediate, Expert.
