Rhode Island / Newport Fort

Choppy but a large area great for just cruising. No waves. Heavy boat traffic in this area can make this a risky launch. Strong currents. No beach, you can launch off the grass with a buddy at the local Fort on a peninsula. Mostly good 15-20 but picks up a lot more sometimes. Pretty often a good 5 days a week you can ride. Works in many directions. One of the shiftiest winds in RI. The launch is very sketchy unless a true SW breeze is on. Cold, don't come here without a wetsuit. Season is about May to September. Water: Chop. Features: Shop, Rescue, Shower, Toilet, Food. Rider ability: Intermediate, Expert.
