Generally calm and shallow, large bay. Can get moderate chop if strong southerly wind. Lots of oysters, so avoid cutting up your feet. Narrow white sand beach, sparsely wooded with pines. Plenty of room to layout and launch though. Winter winds are frontal in nature, SE switching to NW as fronts come through. Cleanest wind here is a straight S or SSE, which has blown across 7 miles of the bay. The prime reason to come here is this is one of the few beaches in this area where the shoreline is not straight East-West. The coast here is NNW-SSE. If the wind is nearly straight North or straight South, this is one of the few sideonshore, sideoffshore coastline areas. Generally warm, spring suit needed October to November and March to April, full suit December to March. Water: Shallow, Flat, Chop. Features: Parking. Rider ability: Intermediate, Expert.
