Isla Holbox / Punta Mosquito

Punta Mosquito has a nice shallow area. Depending on tides it varies from 20cm to knee deep. Excellent for learning. Very flat water with some smaller waves and a bit chop outside the shallow area. Sandy bottom, but can have a few shells, crabs and sea urchins. The beach is sandy with shells around. Lots of space. Directly at the point there are some dead trees, so don't come to close to them. Usually wind all year. The best wind you have from December till August. During this time the wind is blowing between N and East. In winter every two weeks there is a Northerly wind that increases till 30 knots. Than it turns a little to Northeast and slowly dies till 10 knots. And this goes on and on. Since it is a point, it works in many wind directions. In December it can happen that there is some rain but from January up to August there is no rain anymore. In December and January the temperature is between the 24-30°C and from February up to August it is between 30-35°C. During the year the water temperature is between 22-28°C. In winter a shorty can be useful on colder north wind days. Normally just shorts. Water: Shallow, Flat, Chop. Features: None. Rider ability: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert.
