Flat to choppy conditions depending on wind speeds, with some waves in the boat channel towards the east end of the beach. At low tide the water can be shallow enough to stand up even out ways from shore. White sandy beach but tends to get seaweed accumulations into August and September. The beach is fairly deep so there is ample room to launch kites. Prevailing winds are SW and Kalmus has been measured as being the windiest spot North of Hatteras on the East coast. In the summer winds commonly reach 15-20 knots. No wetsuit required July and August. Shorty required June and September. Full wetsuit required May and October. Drysuit required November to April. Water: Shallow, Flat, Chop, Smallwave. Features: Shower, Toilet, Food, Parking. Rider ability: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert.
