Grootdraai Dam / NW Spot

The water is flat but can produce decent size waves if the wind is strong. Flatter than the Vaal dam though. Beach/grass area is pretty clean and ideal for launching and landing. We haven't identified any major thorn or other hidden obstacles to watch out for. Property here is private and fisherman have first rights as it is a fishing club. If there are fishing comps on please speak to the chairman to find out where to go to. Charge is R15/day or R100/year for membership. Best in winter and before or after any cold front. This spot is ideal only for NE and NW as W can be gusty. Wetsuit definitely necessary in winter. Water: Shallow, Flat, Chop, Smallwave. Features: None. Rider ability: Intermediate, Expert.
