Lake De Smet

Nice clean fresh water out in the middle of the rolling plains of northern Wyoming. The lake is maybe a mile wide, 4-6 miles long. Beach is red sharp shale with patches of grass and dirt. For kite preservation, have a friend help. Lots of open space. When windy, few onlookers will be out. You are basically praying for storm system wind coming off the Big Horn mountains: so gear up for a small kite rodeo. Mid to low 60's°F for water temp, on hot hot days shorts only.
