Oahu / Flat Island

Find the smoothest water on the island at Flat island. But don't get too close cause parts of the island are not under water completely. Launch is easy but down wind by Kaiua Beach Park or launch at Lanikai and do a downwinder. Space is not always enough for a rookie kiter. Trade winds are most common in summer but blow all year long. Best on a trade wind direction in the early morning (7 am) or late afternoon 5-7 pm. Air and water temp is warm year round. Some of the locals wear a spring suit sometimes. Water: Shallow, Flat, Chop. Features: Shop, Shower, Toilet, Food. Rider ability: Intermediate, Expert.
