Medium to large chop but at mid tide a flat water section close to shore. Watch out for the rocks in the middle close to shore. Beach is pretty hard packed and shaped like a daytona track. Hardly any rocks. A reserve behind the beach offers perfect landing for kites and should something go wrong there are no houses. Watch out for punters walking on the beach. Summer thermals can occur here but can be crowded at this time of year. Best conditions are a 25 knot SW, common during winter. Best directions are S/SW, typical speeds are 15-30 knots, thermals when they occur are usually 15-20 knots. Air temp: winter 13°C, summer 23°C. Water temp: winter 15°C, summer 23°C. The best time to ride here is during winter and the best sessions here produce the coldest temps that Auckland gets. You can ride here all year-round. Water: Flat, Chop. Features: Toilet.
