Tybee Island / North Jetty (Lighthouse)

Flat water inside the bay. Can have waves on a NE. Beginners should stay within the bay and not go out too far. Tides make a big difference. Nice sandy beach. Lots of space at low tide, gets small on high tide. Launch with enough distance to the jetty. The wind blows here at least 3-4 days during the week. The wind averages from 10-15. Sometimes it blows 15-20+. Best directions here: E, NE, NW, if you can stay well upwind of the jetty. Don't ride here if there is any South in the wind direction. Best season: fall to winter. In summer months the water can reach 80°F. In the winter it gets down to 50°F. The kiting season here is year round. Wetsuits are necessary from November to April. Water: Flat, Chop, Smallwave. Features: Food, Parking. Rider ability: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert.
