Waikanae Beach River Mouth

Shallow river mouth, waist deep for a long way. Good long shallow part at high tide. Can be a bit choppy but protected by Kapiti Island so doesn't get too surfy like the rest of the coast. Nice beach with white sand. No obstacles other than occasional logs. Quite regular and most boarders from Wellington drive up to this spot. Kiteable all year. Summer no wetsuit needed. Water: Shallow, Flat, Chop, Smallwave. Features: Toilet, Parking. Rider ability: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert.
