Nice waves when onshore winds and high tide, choppy when sideshore and low tide. With sideshore winds the water gets choppy. With high tide a lagoon is created, shallow for some hundred meters. On South and Southwest winds very nice waves (up to 1.5m), excellent for surfing. On the other side of the dam (Oosterscheldedam) is the Veersemeer with flat water. Some sandbars in the water, which are changing due to the different currents in the water. Be careful if the dam doors are opened, then a strong current takes you away from shore. Beach is a few hundred meters wide. Also very long beach. Soft sand with shells, so be careful not to damage your kite. Lots of space. But during high season look out for beach goers. In spring and autumn the wind is usually good, ranging from 4-6 Bft. In summer often a gentle but constant 4 Bft. Good wind directions: North, West, East. Main season is from April to November. Average temps: water 9-17°C, air 10-25°C. All year is possible, but thick wetsuit needed. Water: Shallow, Flat, Chop, Smallwave, Mediumwave. Features: Shop, Food, Parking. Rider ability: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert.
