Brittas Bay has been the recipient of Silver Starfish Awards on account of its outstanding water quality. Usually fairly flat water. Tides. For a number of years now Brittas Bay has been awarded the Blue Flag for Beaches Award. This is the international emblem for the highest quality beach areas in Europe. Wicklow County Council has a beach management strategy for Brittas Bay and has provided car Parks, public toilets and board walks, and has attempted dune preservation. So the sandy beach is very clean. Long and at low tide wider. Southwesterlies 12-25 knots gusty. Sometimes Easterlies 20-25 knots. Water 3mm suit for summer, 5mm suit for winter gloves + booties recommended for December to March. 11 month season. Water: Shallow, Flat, Chop, Smallwave, Mediumwave. Features: Camping, Rescue, Toilet, Parking. Rider ability: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert.
