At dead low tide you do not have to walk a long distance to get to the water. At low wind speed water is choppy but can get wavy in stronger conditions. Big shallow area depending on tides. Long sandbar extends from the west end at low tide (along the mouth of the Essex). Sandy beach and enough space to launch and land the kite. 1-1.5 mile long North facing, sandwiched between the mouth of the Essex and Annisquam rivers. During summer the beach can get a little bit crowded with tourists. Summer weekends probably not a good idea unless early AM or later PM runs, given people and occasional boat traffic. Average Wind speed: 11-12mph. Best winds from December to April. Weather can be very windy - rising storms coming from Southwest. Humidity during summer period is low. Water temperature is relatively low, wetsuit recommended. The length of the season depends on you. Water: Shallow, Chop. Features: Rescue, Food, Parking.
