It is the widest part of the Mohave river. The water is flat to choppy. Many tree stumps just under the water and trees/stumps in the water. Experts only, they have already had one experienced kiter die here. Very crowded launch littered with tons of beach users, vehicles, etc. The water is choppy. Show respect and no jumping inside wakeless speed buoys. Sandy and rocky beach. Dirty beach, not much space when many people are around then its not a safe launch. Avoid weekends and holidays. Starting at dusk swarms of mosquitoes emerge and stay until the wind starts the following day. Be prepared to experience a dangerous launch on weekends due to crowded cove with tons of motor homes, cars and trucks in your way. Avoid offshore winds. 10-20 mph, even when it is not blowing in Las Vegas. Almost always gusty winds from the South. Launch is situated in a cove with hills and trees upwind that trigger updrafts that have lofted many. Keep kite low if you go and have someone walk you to water. Sand bag your kite when not in use. This beach is very wind shadowed when it's offshore and not suggested to ride this direction. Also note the onshore wind will back out away from shore in the afternoon, if this happens beware of huge dust devils that spin down slope and out through this canyon. Updrafts over the South point result in lofting kiters into the mesquite trees, rocks vehicles and bathrooms. 20K for air vac ride to hospital. Hot air, but the wind comes off the lake and makes it seem nicer. Water temp around 70-80°F. If it does not blow your looking at 115 °F in the shade, low temps at night are seldom below 90°F from late spring to early fall. Water: Chop. Features: Camping, Toilet. Rider ability: Expert.
