Wind tide - the water level can rise or drop up to 3-5 feet in a matter of hours. The island is located about 800 meters offshore to the West. The water on the outside of the 'bowl' is typically a little choppy with up to 3 foot wind chop (if very windy). The water depth is from inches deep to over 6 feet deep. The inside of the bowl (the reason why we kite here) is shallow (2-4 feet) and flat to dead flat. The 'bowl' is kiteable from SE to W winds. The Sunset bowl is a u-shaped island with very low relief - (ave. height above water level is about 4 feet) all sand with occasional beds of small rounded rocks with some small trees and bushes - but otherwise bare beach. Lot of birds. Lots of space to do whatever - land, launch, party, camp. All wind is frontal, best direction is SSE to SW. All wind is frontal - we do get a 'lake effect' in early spring and late fall when the water temp is cooler / warmer than the land temp. Bring all your kites. Bring all your wetsuits. The water is warm in summer (up to 25°C) frozen from November to April - so depends on the season - warms up and cools off fast. Water: Shallow, Flat, Chop. Features: Camping, None. Rider ability: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert.
