In summer the beach gets incredibly crowded. Car parking is near impossible on a hot summers day so don't come here in these conditions. The beach itself is sandy with ample room to launch a kite. Just don't annoy other water/beach users. Best direction here is NW which is sideonshore. Not a light wind spot. Needs at least 25 knots to be worth a visit here. Strong NW winds aren't common in Auckland but can occur at anytime of the year. As mentioned before not a sea breeze spot. Suited to strong winds for less crowded conditions. Don't use a big kite here. This beach works at anytime of the year so long as there is a strong NW wind which can appear anytime of the year. These winds though are generally rare in Auckland. Water: Chop. Features: Toilet, Food, Parking. Rider ability: Intermediate, Expert.
