Beautiful, clear and blue water. Choppy water, with small rolling waves. East of the launch is a break on a reef, where nice waves can break, mainly during the wave season in winter. Small sandy beach with trees next to it. Rocks at both ends. The wind in Playa Grande is about 1 Bft less strong than in Cabarete. During summer the wind picks up at around noon and stays until sunset. The wind is gustier closer to shore. Don't get too close to the cliff at the west end of the beach, since here no wind will blow. If you cannot stay upwind and miss the beach, ride further west to Playa Grande, which is around the corner. The Dom. Rep. has warm water, and warm air, all year round. No wetsuit is necessary, although sun protection like a lycra is always good. Mid September-mid December: great rain season. Water: Chop, Smallwave, Mediumwave. Features: Parking. Rider ability: Intermediate, Expert.
