Probably the biggest lagoon of the island. The water is pretty flat on the south side, and the further north you sail the choppier it gets, specially near the big sea channels. Although the southern end has a nice wave spot, this is not adapted to kiting or windsurfing as it is hidden from the wind. The water is particularly clear in this lagoon, making the sessions there always memorable. Beware of the strong current between the coast and Ile aux Aigrettes, this is in the same direction as the wind and makes upwind rides all the more difficult. The beach is beautifully wide and white fine sand (sunglasses recommended at noon). Some coral pieces on the beach, so be careful with your gear. Some rocks at the north end where the yacht club is located. SE trade wind period, making the good time of the year a real treat as you can kite day and night, there is such consistent wind. The spot works well with any wind from North through to SSE, Le Morne doesn't work well (in the lagoon if the wind is ESE round to the north) as the the wind is gusty coming over the mountains. The best months are June to September, but I have had excellent conditions through to November and starting in April. Around the low 20's°C in winter and upper 20-30's°C in summer. Water: Flat, Chop, Smallwave. Features: School, Rental, Rescue. Rider ability: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert.
