Flat to choppy water. Deeper water during high tide, shallow before and after. When there is a strong outgoing tide some nice waves can build up as the wind blows opposite of the current and the water is shallow. Low tide makes ideal Skim Boarding conditions. There is a sand spit for launching and if the tide is low there is plenty of beach. Can be driftwood on the ground. It is known as a high wind big swell location for windsurfing. However there are plenty of days when the winds are less than 30 and it's a perfectly good kiting location. It's more of an intermediate to advanced location due to the onshore to sideonshore winds. If the wind is out of the West enough it could work for beginners. Prime wind direction is South to Southwest. 4/3 wetsuit late spring, shorty to board shorts in late June through July and August. Water temp 50°F late spring to upper 60's°F in August (tide will effect this more than in Gorge). Air temps 50's to 70°F in spring and 70's to 90's°F in summer. Water: Shallow, Flat, Chop, Smallwave. Features: Shower, Toilet, Parking. Rider ability: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert.
